Here’s what has happened in the last month and what’s to come!
In this issue of the Lancing Equestrian Centre Newsletter, we reflect on an incredible summer filled with highlights and exciting updates. We kicked off with our Disney-themed summer camp, which enchanted attendees of all ages, followed by the Sussex Horseball Cup, where our teams showcased their skills at the prestigious Hickstead England jumping course. Our U16 team took home the first-place trophy, while the Pro Elite and Division 2 teams also performed admirably, finishing second and fourth, respectively.
The inaugural adult camp, despite a bit of rain, brought joy and camaraderie as adult riders engaged in training and dressage, enjoying delightful refreshments along the way. Our talented U16 and U21 teams competed in the European Championships in Le Mans, with the U16 team narrowly missing out on a bronze medal. As we welcome back Lancing College this week, we’re thrilled to see familiar faces and embrace new members in our equestrian community. Looking ahead, we are excited to prepare for the winter term of riding, with new sessions being added to our ECPRO account, alongside festive October and Halloween celebrations. Stay connected for updates and join us on our equestrian journey through our social media channels, visit our website, or reach out via our contact information.

Sussex u16 return from champions league in Belgium
A huge congratulations to our Sussex U16 team riders! In their inaugural year as a team, and for many, their first year in the sport, they showcased remarkable determination and skill. They excelled at the national league weekends, ultimately earning the prestigious opportunity to represent Great Britain at the Champions League in Belgium. Their impressive performances were highlighted by a series of thrilling matches, including a nail-biting final where they lost by just one goal. We are immensely proud of each rider, as well as our dedicated team supporters and the incredible ponies who all returned safely, each with an extra stamp in their passports! We eagerly look forward to following the journeys of these talented young athletes, many of whom will soon be trying out for the next European GB teams. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
SUMMER CAMP MEMORIES
The much-anticipated camp at Lancing Equestrian transformed the stables into a magical playground! With yards themed after Toy Story, The Lion King, Aladdin, and Snow White, the ponies are loving their enchanting surroundings and receiving plenty of affection from their eager fans.
The camp kicked off with drill ride training and equitation sessions, where riders were learning, laughing, and growing in confidence every step of the way. New friendships blossomed, old ones were rekindled, and the sunny weather made everything even more special.
Throughout the camp, the energy was palpable. The morning sessions featured thrilling mounted games competitions, and participants enjoyed sunny hacking across the stunning South Downs, taking in the beautiful views alongside their ponies. The afternoons were dedicated to rehearsals for the big show, ending with a lively camp party packed with sports tournaments and classic games.
The grand finale showcased sparkle and style as riders and ponies dazzled in glittery costumes for their musical performances. With incredible choreography and stunning outfits, the end-of-camp show was nothing short of magical.
We cherished every moment — the laughter, the learning, the friendships, and the fabulous fun. A heartfelt thank you to our amazing coaches for their energy and expertise, and a special shoutout to Carla for her brilliant planning and organisation that made it all happen. We look forward to more unforgettable memories in the future!
RDA Open Morning – 1st November
We are excited to announce our new partnership with the RDA (Riding for the Disabled) and invite our wonderful community to join us for an Open Morning dedicated to raising funds for this beautiful cause!
Come and witness some amazing displays from our talented riding school riders, along with a special demonstration by some of our GBR horseball riders. We will also feature a stunning dressage drill ride performed by our Changing Lives Through Horses students.
We hope you can join us to support this exciting new initiative at our facility. Your participation will make a real difference in our efforts to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities through equestrian activities. Let’s come together for a great cause!
Lancing Equestrian Academy
We’re excited to announce that the Lancing Equestrian Academy is thriving, with increased participation and engagement! Starting this month, we will hold one academy training session each month on a Sunday with Carla and a ridden training session on a Saturday with Amy. These sessions are designed to support our young riders as they transition from the Silver Challenge BHS Awards to the BHS Level 1 Care and Ride stages, available for those aged 14 and up. This program not only fosters knowledge-building, teamwork, and friendships but also allows riders to earn up to 41 badges in both ridden and non-ridden equestrian education. Badges will be awarded as riders meet the required thresholds, which can be found on our website. We encourage all riders to review these requirements to understand what they need to work on or seek further training for. To participate in our half-term assessments and showcase their skills, riders must be academy members. We are incredibly proud of our riders and their dedication, and we look forward to supporting their continued growth. For the full badge syllabus, please visit this page.
Congratulations to all our young equestrians as they continue to shine!
